Aged Care Living

Thoughtfully delivered care, tailored to you - in a calm, beautifully designed setting overlooking the Waitematā Harbour and Glover Park.

Making the decision to move into care is rarely simple. Whether you’re considering care for yourself or supporting someone you love, it’s a decision that often comes with questions, emotion and uncertainty. At The Helier, the transition into care is thoughtfully considered, designed to feel right from the very beginning.

From the moment you arrive, you’ll experience a beautifully designed environment overlooking the Waitematā Harbour and Glover Park, where you’ll be supported by an experienced clinical care team, including registered nurses and nurse practitioners. It’s an approach that combines exceptional clinical expertise with something equally important - confidence and reassurance for you and those who care about you.

Care that Adapts to You

At The Helier, high-quality clinical care underpins everything we do. Our approach is designed to support you day to day and adapt as your needs change. We provide a range of care options, including long term care, or short-term respite care, at rest home or hospital level.

  • Rest Home

  • Hospital-level

  • Respite (Short Term Stays)

  • Palliative and End of Life

Alongside daily care services, residents also have the option to access additional companion and hospitality services. These optional services allow you to tailor your day-to-day living with extra lifestyle choices, if you wish.

*Specialist dementia care (including secure dementia or psychogeriatric care) is not provided within the Care Residences at The Helier. If this level of care is required, Oceania offers dedicated specialist dementia care at Meadowbank Village nearby.

Understanding funding and assessments

Needs Assessments

If you are considering residential care, you may be asked to complete a Needs Assessment. This assessment helps determine the level of care and support you require.

Needs assessments are carried out by your local Needs Assessment and Service Coordination (NASC) team. A NASC assessment is required if you wish to apply for the Residential Care Subsidy, which helps cover the cost of care for those who meet the eligibility criteria.

Your GP, nurse practitioner, or hospital clinician can refer you to your local NASC team to arrange a needs assessment.

If you plan to pay privately for your care, a NASC needs assessment is not required. In this case, our team at The Helier can carry out an assessment to understand your care needs and ensure the right level of support is in place.

You can learn more about NASC assessments and the Residential Care Subsidy on the following websites:
