Debbie’s passion for seniors drove her to seek a career change, and in 2023 she came on board as Sales Manager at The Helier.
Prior to moving into the retirement living and aged care sector, Debbie enjoyed a
range of roles across hospitality and tourism. From an early stint with P&O Catering, to tourism roles in our adventure capital Queenstown, Debbie gained valuable insight into all things business and people focused, while growing her skillset in service.
Debbie then spent 20 years in the music industry, finishing up as General Manager for Play It Strange, a trust for young NZ songwriters looking to break into the
industry. Working with young people helped to grow Debbie’s understanding of inclusivity and diversity, which was also reflected in her homelife raising her son with Autism.
A St Heliers local, Debbie has enjoyed seeing The Helier take shape from her home. She loves the area and takes pride in helping residents on their journey to make the decision to move into The Helier.
As Debbie continues to grow The Helier community, she engages the simple mantra of importance; he tāngata, he tāngata, he tāngata; it is people, it is people, it is
people.

In many cases this is fine, however you will need to submit a request to management for approval. You would pay for the alterations, as well as the cost to reinstate your apartment when you leave.
Whether they are coming from overseas, or over the road, your friends and family are welcome to visit and can stay with you for up to 90 days per year.
Your pet is part of your family. Talk to your sales manager to see if you are able to bring your pet to your new home.
The beauty of living at The Helier is you can lock it and leave, so you can enjoy your holiday with peace of mind.

Resident of The Helier
As I expected, I love my spacious apartment with its beautiful view which makes me feel part of what is happening in the city at all times of the day and night. What I did not expect was the warmth and support of the community which has welcomed me here.
Resident of The Helier
The kindness of the staff and the services which are provided are amazing. I no longer have to worry about finding a park in the city at night - the Helier chauffeur will drop me off and pick me up. If I need a meal before I leave or when I return, I can order a beautiful and reasonably priced one from the restaurant.
Resident of The Helier
I can go down at any time of the day to enjoy barista coffee and talk to other residents or staff. During what can often be a lonely time of 5-6pm, I can join in The Helier Hour where I enjoy fabulous canapés and alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks. Through these opportunities I have got to know the group of interesting, friendly and diverse people who are the residents here. We all have active lives outside The Helier but we have built a special bond appreciating a new lifestyle which supports us in all we do.
