Making the decision to move into care is rarely simple. Whether you’re considering care for yourself or supporting someone you love, it’s a decision that often comes with questions, emotion and uncertainty. At The Helier, the transition into care is thoughtfully considered, designed to feel right from the very beginning.
From the moment you arrive, you’ll experience a beautifully designed environment overlooking the Waitematā Harbour and Glover Park, where you’ll be supported by an experienced clinical care team, including registered nurses and nurse practitioners. It’s an approach that combines exceptional clinical expertise with something equally important - confidence and reassurance for you and those who care about you.
At The Helier, high-quality clinical care underpins everything we do. Our approach is designed to support you day to day and adapt as your needs change. We provide a range of care options, including long term care, or short-term respite care, at rest home or hospital level.
Alongside daily care services, residents also have the option to access additional companion and hospitality services. These optional services allow you to tailor your day-to-day living with extra lifestyle choices, if you wish.
*Specialist dementia care (including secure dementia or psychogeriatric care) is not provided within the Care Residences at The Helier. If this level of care is required, Oceania offers dedicated specialist dementia care at Meadowbank Village nearby.

Debbie’s passion for seniors drove her to seek a career change, and in 2023 she came on board as Sales Manager at The Helier. Prior to moving into the retirement living and aged care sector, Debbie enjoyed a range of roles across hospitality and tourism. From an early stint with P&O Catering, to tourism roles in our adventure capital Queenstown, Debbie gained valuable insight into all things business and people focused, while growing her skillset in service.
Debbie then spent 20 years in the music industry, finishing up as General Manager
for Play It Strange, a trust for young NZ songwriters looking to break into the industry. Working with young people helped to grow Debbie’s understanding of
inclusivity and diversity, which was also reflected in her homelife raising her son with autism.
A St Heliers local, Debbie has enjoyed seeing The Helier take shape from her home.
She loves the area and takes pride in helping residents on their journey to make the decision to move into The Helier.
As Debbie continues to grow The Helier community, she engages the simple mantra of importance; he tāngata, he tāngata, he tāngata; it is people, it is people, it is people.

Irit joins The Helier team as the Head of
Care Services, bringing over a wealth of experience from a life that spans across the globe. Born in Soviet Ukraine, Irit relocated early in life when her family moved to Israel after the Chernobyl incident. It's here that Irit laid down her roots in healthcare, learning the ropes in one of Israel's busiest hospitals.
Her trilingual ability in Russia, Hebrew, and English not only enhances communication but also brings a rich cultural understanding to her clinical expertise.
Since moving to New Zealand with her own family, Irit has dedicated the past 12 years to leading a private healthcare facility as the Nurse Manager. Irit's professional journey is marked not just by her roles but by her approach to them. She's known for a hands-on and heartfelt approach to nursing, focusing on the finer details that make a real difference in patient care.
At The Helier, she's excited to lead a team that's as focused on quality and attention to detail as she is, aiming to set a new standard in aged care and retirement living.

From my arrival, I was treated with the utmost respect, compassion and affection, and made to feel very welcome. I cannot speak more highly of the impeccable care that I received from all the nursing staff and carers. It was very special and made me feel secure and happy.
Nothing was ever too much trouble. The room was excellent, with a lovely view and balcony. Whilst there, my family had peace of mind that I was safe and had the care I needed so I could return home. The food was amazing and presented with love and care. I would not hesitate to recommend The Helier for respite care.
Thank you all from the bottom of my heart."

I don’t think we could have chosen a better place for someone we all loved so much….The medical care was top notch as one would expect, but it was the extra little things that made all the difference. Everyone from the reception team to the butlers, the care staff, nurses, and cleaners to the GM, went above and beyond even the highest expectations. There was a real sense of care, not just of undertaking a job. Everyone knew mum’s name and her story, and they made her feel loved and safe.
